OMNEX ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION OF AAM’S UK CINEMA SERVICES SPECIALIST ENGINEERING DIVISION

London, 5th November 2019

The UK’s leading provider of specialist cinema engineering services, Omnex, is pleased to announce its acquisition of Arts Alliance Media’s engineering division, UK Cinema Services. The acquisition unites two highly respected engineering teams, known within the industry for their technical skills and service levels. As part of the deal, Omnex has agreed to utilise AAM’s Lifeguard software, to better monitor and control the assets in their care

The deal cements Omnex’s position as the foremost provider of installation, supply and maintenance services for cinema technologies in the UK and Ireland. With effect from the 1st November, the addition of the AAM UK Cinema Services team doubles the number of specialist engineers Omnex that has sited regionally across the UK.

“A huge factor in the offering that Omnex and UK Cinema Services have traditionally provided stems from the good relationships both have always held with their exhibitor customers and suppliers,” explained Omnex managing director Simon Tandy, “Like Omnex, the UK Cinema Services team has a strong engineering background and both share similar attitudes and an unfaltering commitment to standards. This acquisition enables us to expand our geographic reach and support structure considerably, enhancing the services we can offer Omnex’s new and existing customer base. I’m genuinely excited about the opportunities this deal opens up for exhibitors looking to maintain their cinemas’ status as the ultimate place to enjoy the movie experience.”

“With the support of its new owners, Motion Picture Solutions, we’ve really noticed the dynamic impact Omnex has been having in the industry over the past year,” noted Darren Briggs, Head of UK Cinema Services, “Like us the Omnex team is driven by innovation and a desire to deliver the best experience. Given its energetic and focused approach, Omnex is a natural home for our engineers, and there’s a real excitement in our whole team about the future developments and plans for growth that are already in place.”

“We are truly pleased to complete this merger as putting these two groups together not only benefits this new combined business but allows the new team to better service the industry”, commented Emily Ng, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Arts Alliance Media. “We are also thrilled to have Omnex embracing our Lifeguard solution as it will only enhance the ability for the combined team to be more efficient and effective in meeting the needs of their clients.”

Since Omnex was acquired by the international film servicing specialists Motion Picture Solutions in May 2018, the company has been directly involved in a number of technical firsts in the UK and Ireland, notably the installation of the first Barco Series 4 projectors in the UK and the first installation of Dolby’s new CP950 in the very first week of its release, as well as supporting new installations such as Savoy’s five-screen Grantham multiplex. Similarly, UK Cinema Services is no less dynamic in its approach, helping to bring affordable technologies to the UK market.
